Who are these NVQs for?

The EDI Level 2 NVQ in Passenger Carrying Vehicles is suitable for drivers who hold a vocational licence.  The NVQs aim is to contribute to the skills, knowledge and overall performance of individuals who are employed in providing a bus or coach service.

As well as covering the core functions of a driver this NVQ also focuses on vital skills needed to be able to offer a professional service such as communication, working with others and customer service.

What is the structure of these NVQs?

To achieve a full Level 2 NVQ in Passenger Carrying Vehicle Driving (Bus & Coach) the learner must complete 10 mandatory units. The additional units are available to enable Continuous Professional Development and extended training opportunities and do not form a requirement of the qualification.

Mandatory Units (Complete all 10)

Unit 1 Maintain effective working relationships with colleagues.
Unit 2 Contribute to health and safety in your workplace environment
Unit 3 Provide professional customer care in the bus and coach industry
Unit 4 Prepare for passenger carrying journeys
Unit 5 Help passengers who have special needs
Unit 6 Sharing information on the operation of the bus or coach service
Unit 7 Deal effectively with difficult passengers
Unit 8  Drive passenger carrying vehicles safely and effectively
Unit 9 Operate the passenger system and service
Unit 10 Deal with emergencies and incidents during a bus or coach journey

Additional Units

Unit 11 Negotiate and agree tour itineraries with clients (Coach)
Unit 12 Process fares and receives and match fare payments to tickets (Bus/Coach)
Unit 13 Manage financial transactions on coach journeys (Coach)
Unit 14 Provide a transport service for passengers who have special needs (Bus/Coach)
Unit 15 Transport accompanied luggage (Coach) 
Unit 16 Transport unaccompanied parcels (Bus/Coach)
Unit 17 Operate a schools service by bus or coach (Bus/Coach)
Unit 18 Drive passenger carrying vehicles on international journeys (Coach)
