Who are these NVQs for?

The Logistics Operations Management standards were developed for use in any logistics setting, and as such they can be used by people working at supervisory or team leading levels of responsibility in logistics organisations, such as warehousing and storage, transport, or any organisation involved with the movement of freight.

What is the structure of these NVQs?

To achieve a full certificate in Logistics Operations Management at Level 3, you are required to complete a total of 8 units as outlined below:

Mandatory Units
Unit 1 Identify the logistics requirements of a supply chain (Unit LOM1)
Unit 2 Promote and maintain health, safety, and security in logistics operations (Unit LOG2)
Unit 3 Promote compliance of logistics operations with legislation, regulations and organisational procedures (Unit LOM2)

Optional Units
A total of 5 units to be taken from the three option groups, according to the following rules:
A minimum of 1 unit from each of option group 1 and option group and 3 other units to be taken from either group1,2 or 3. A maximum of 3 units from each option group can be taken

Option Group 1
Unit 4 Schedule logistics operations to meet customer requirements
Unit 5 Optimise the use of logistics resources
Unit 6 Develop contingency plans for logistics operations
Unit 7 Utilise transport modes in logistics operations
Unit 8 Apply technology in logistics operations

Option Group 2
Unit 9 Develop relationships with logistics customers
Unit 10 Improve the quality of logistics operations
Unit 11 Respond to contingencies during logistics operations
Unit 12 Monitor the environmental impact of logistics operations

Option Group 3
Unit 13 Arrange the transportation of goods using multiple transport modes
Unit 14 Organise the preparation of documentation for the transportation of goods
Unit 15 Manage the receipt, storage and dispatch of goods
Unit 16 Audit stock levels and stock records
Unit 17 Provide leadership for your team
Unit 18 Allocate and check work in your team
