Initial Drivers Certificate Of Professional Competence Training Course
How does it affect me?
Initial CPC affects all drivers applying for their LGV or PCV licence who obtained their driving licence after 1st January 1997.
To drive professionally you must pass two additional tests after obtaining your licence, before driving professionally. One element is the Module 2 Driver CPC case study test. The second element is Module 4, a practical demonstration test, nicknamed “Show me, tell me.” This training and testing will be carried out at our own "DVSA Approved Test Centre".
Initial Driver CPC – Module 2
7 case studies (6–8 questions in each). You need to obtain 38 marks out of a possible 50 to pass this element.
Initial Driver CPC–Module 4
This training and testing will be carried out at our "DVSA Approved Test Centre". The training will last approximately three hours. The test will take about 30 minutes and is a practical "Show me, Tell me" test using the appropriate vehicle for the category of licence.
The theory module will include case studies wherever possible using diagrams, pictures and graphics. The test will be screen-based, like the theory test for driving licence acquisition, and will be delivered from existing theory test centres.
The practical module is nicknamed ‘Show me, tell me’ which is similar to a vehicle walk-round check.
