Initial Driver CPC
Initial CPC
How does it affect me?
All Initial CPC affects drivers
applying for their PCV licence and all
LGV applicants who obtained their
driving licence after 1997.
To drive professionally, you must pass
two extra tests after obtaining your licence,
before driving professionally. One part is the Module 2
Driver CPC case study test, the second part is
Module 4, a practical demonstration test,
nicknamed “Show me, tell me.”
– Module 2 – initial driver CPC –
7 case studies (6–8 questions in each)
– Module 4 – licence acquisition –
initial driver CPC – 0.5 hours of practical
‘show me, tell me’ test using a vehicle
The theory module will include
case studies wherever possible using diagrams,
pictures and graphics. The test will be screen-based,
like the theory test for driving licence acquisition, and
will be delivered from existing theory test centres.
The practical module is nicknamed ‘Show me, tell me’
which is similar to a vehicle walk-round check.
