LGV Driver CPC Module 4

If you want to drive a HGV vehicle professionally, you will need to obtain a Driver CPC card.

To gain the initial Driver CPC card you will need to pass a Module 2 (Case Studies) theory test with the DVLA. This is booked and taken the same way as the HGV mutiple choice and hazard perception tests and can be taken at the same time as these if you wish.

Once you have completed the Module 2, you will need to complete the Module 4. The Module 2 must be completed before the Module 4 can be taken.

What is the Module 4?

The Module 4 is a vehicle safety demonstration. The test for the Module 4 consists of five topics covered in the Driver CPC syllabus, all of which are covered in the training provided by CRH Training prior to the test.

The Module 4 test will last around half an hour. In order to pass, candidates must score 15 out of a possible 20 points in each topic area (75%) with an overall score of 80% or more. Candidates will need to demonstrate knowledge and ability in the following areas 

• Ability to load the vehicle, paying attention to safety rules and proper use of the vehicle.
• Security of the vehicle and it's contents.
• Ability to prevent criminality and trafficking in illegal immigrants - for example, what you should do if you have returned to your vehicle after taking a comfort break on or near a boarder crossing. 
• Ability to assess emergency situations.
• Ability to prevent physical risk.
• Ability to complete a physical walk round safety check. 

CRH Training has expert instructors who will guide candidates through each of these areas during the training sessions. They will also instruct candidates in the use of an LSDT (Load Securing Demonstration Trolley) which will allow candidates to demostrate their ability to secure a load.
